Soaring temperatures throughout Northeast, places witness temperature rise up to five degrees above normal

Guwahati, May 16: The heat wave has increased in the region, and it is a matter of concern for most of the states in the North East including Assam. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the temperatures this year will be nearly 5 degrees above normal till May 16 in Assam’s many places.

The mercury is rising daily in the state, causing daily life to come to a standstill. There is an abnormal rise in the temperatures in May. The temperature has risen by several degrees Celsius above normal, according to the latest data from the Regional Meteorological Center at Borjhar.

Due to prevailing partly cloudy sky conditions during daytime and high solar insolation, maximum temperatures are likely to be more than 35 degrees Celsius in the districts of Assam and will be above the normal temperature by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius till May 16,” IMD stated in a press statement. Since Tuesday, six locations in the northeast recorded maximum temperatures, which were above 5 degrees.

Talking to Hub News the people have expressed their heat woes, a coconut seller told that “the heat is increasing a lot. For the last few days, and due to the heat, our sales have also reduced”, he stated.

A local resident of Guwahati said that “every citizen is facing problems. Every year there is a change of 1 or 2 degrees in heat, and we all are responsible, because we cut trees. If you go against nature, you will also have to suffer the same.

Woman who is a mother said that “it is very hot, and in spite of the heat we have to carry on with our routine “I want to give a message that people should plant trees so that we can get oxygen and air.”
