Soft skill training on cards for PHCs and CHCs staffs

Shillong, March 2: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Friday informed that the PHCs and CHCs staff will be provided with soft skill program to enhance their overall hospitality perceptions, after meeting with Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Sohiong.

Lyngdoh mentioned that the HYC has brought to her attention of some perceived observations that few matters need the immediate attention of the department.

“I have sent the DMHO to go for a joint inspection with HYC on March 8. I think that if there’s anything that needs to be addressed, we need to address it amicably. So, we are also contemplating on sending various institutions like the PHC, CHCs staff of these institutions should undergo certain hospitality, soft skills training, because they are the front liners of our institutions,” added Lyngdoh.

She said that these soft skill training programs will improve their ability to redress some of the emergent developments in their various PHCs. “The right message should be seen as these are centers for treatments the staff should be sensitive to the predicaments of citizens because they come to the centers only when they’re unwell and are already under tremendous stress and we must make sure that this stress doesn’t result negatively.

The minister also applauded the HYC for the suggestion given that a helpline number of the center should be made available. “We should at all points of time, enable public to give us immediate feedback. She will further assured to take she will take it at the official level to see the pros and cons to initiate it at the earliest.
