SHILLONG, JUNE 14: The Meghalaya government proposes to gather important data on success modules from other states into improving and raising the bar on education in the state.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma revealed this to leading news portal Hub News, Thursday, on the sidelines of an inspection of the newly inaugurated Captain Williamson Sangma State University in Balalgre, South West Garo Hills.
Accompanying him were H M Shangpliang, Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Department of Education, members of the Meghalaya State Education Commission (MSEC), and other key officials.
This inspection is part of a comprehensive three-day visit by the MSEC team to Garo Hills, aimed at assessing the educational scenario in the region where the education graph has been on the slide for the last many years.
Rakkam Sangma told that the Commission is assessing the education environment in the state with a dedicated will to bring about positive changes.
He said that the Commission will gather data to compare with the systems in other states and then the Commission will send their recommendations to the state government on the steps needed to improve the education sector in Meghalaya.

During the inspection, the team evaluated the facilities at the University and also met with the key officials.
The visit assumes significance as efforts are being made to ensure that the Captain Williamson Sangma State University is fully equipped to provide quality education and is soon made operational.
