State Medicinal Plant Board extends support to traditional medicinal practitioners in Tura

Tura, Sept 16: The traditional medicinal practitioners in Tura were on Friday provided with chairs and racks as assistance by the State Medicinal Plant Board (SMPB) through the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Social Forestry Division in West Garo Hills.

Dr. Cornelius R. Marak, the proprietor of a private clinic specializing in traditional medicinal practices, and Dr. Vidyanist Marak, who oversees the renowned “Sam-Achik” Hospital, were identified as beneficiaries of this support initiative. Each received a set of 25 plastic chairs. Additionally, “Sam-Achik” Hospital received two sturdy steel racks, augmenting its storage capabilities.

R.K. Marak, the DFO of the Social Forestry Division, who also serves as the Member Secretary for the SMPB, explained, “The beneficiaries had sought assistance from the Board, and upon sanction, they received the plastic chairs and rack.”

The SMPB, which receives funding from the National Medicinal Plant Board (NMPB), plays a crucial role in providing support to beneficiaries at the state level. The responsibility of facilitating these initiatives lies with the Forestry Division, which is entrusted with this significant task.
