Shillong, June 23: A state-of-the-art diagnostic centre that can conduct over 700 kinds of tests will be made functional at the premises of the Pasteur Institute, Shillong next year.

This was informed by the Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek after conducting an inspection of the project on Wednesday.

The Minister said almost 80 percent of the work has been completed on the Rs. 50 crore project.

“We are ready to make it functional but we could not because of the present COVID-19 situation in the state,” he said, adding that many machines have already been installed by the Suraksha Specialty Diagnostics.

Hek told reporters that the diagnostic centre will be one of the major projects to be completed in 2022 which will coincide with the celebration of the 50th year of Meghalaya statehood.
