Stone pelting in opposition leaders houses after new government sworn in Sikkim

Gangtok, June 11: Many incidents of stone pelting were reported from Gangtok after the swearing in ceremony of the new government in Sikkim.

According to police, the houses of Sikkim Democratic Front party’s former legislators Mechung Bhutia and Norzang Lepcha were attacked in Burtuk.

While former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia’s home in Lumsey was also pelted with stones. Bhutia had lost to SKM candidate Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia from Barfung constituency.

CCTV footage has also emerged of men covered in scarf pelting stones at these homes on Monday night.

While independent MP candidate Nawin Kiran Pradhan’s home was also pelted with stones.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the matter.
