Student holds signature campaign seeking amendment to job reservation policy

Shillong, Jan 29: Barilang Pyngrope, an agriculture student, on Saturday held a signature campaign in Motphan at Shillong to draw support from youth and citizens for a change in the outdated state reservation policy.

The campaign saw sizable crowd drawn and signing the banner seeking rationalization of the reservation policy.Pyngrope, an agriculture student, has demanded amendment of the job reservation policy in the State, seeking equal distribution among the three tribes – Khasi, Jaintia and Garo in the state.

Currently, the reservation policy in the State stands at 40 per cent for Khasi-Jantia, 40 percent for Garo, 5 percent for other tribes and 15 percent for general category.The campaign also saw North Shillong MLA Adilbert Nongrum’s participation.
