Tura, Sept 22: The 1st Inter Mahari Football Tournament 2023 of South West Garo Hills (SWGH) got underway at Ampati on Friday.
The Chief guest for the event was Stevie M Marak, MDC in-charge Sports and youth Affairs, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
Altogether a total of 38 Mahari football teams are taking part in this tournament, representing Rangsakhona, Mahendraganj, Salmanpara and Ampati constituencies of South West Garo Hills.
The opening match was between Rangsa Mahari and Gar Mahari, which the Rangsa Mahari won by a solitary goal.
Further, inter club football tournament for women is also being organized only for South West Garo Hills.

This football Tournament is being organized by the District Sports Office, Ampati in collaboration with District Administration of South West Garo Hills.
