Tura, April 26: One-day symposium on “Needs and Opportunities in Education in Garo Hills” was held today at the Don Bosco College Conference Hall, Tura, in a bid to boost the quality of education and to propagate better learning curriculum for the students of Garo Hills. This symposium was jointly organized by Don Bosco College, Tura, and Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Shillong.
The key points on the agenda encompassed a thorough analysis of the existing educational scenario, pinpointing challenges and areas which requires improvement. Strategies for promoting quality education, inclusivity, and digital literacy were also discussed.
The participants also gave recommendations for effective resource allocation and utilization through insightful dialogue, thought provoking perspectives and invaluable learning.
Along with Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal, Don Bosco College; Prof. T. K. Kharbamon, Vice Chancellor, MLCU, Shillong and Viola Sonachi B Sangma, Dean, ICFAI University, the Deputy Commissioner, Jagdish Chellani, IAS, inaugurated the program with lighting of the lamp and a keynote address where he provided inputs and gave an holistic outlook on the plans and schemes for education in Garo Hills.
He also ideated about schools and colleges having extra curricular learnings where they teach students about tax filing or personal and sexual hygiene, topics which is useful in daily life.
