The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a key regional party in Assam, has rolled out grassroots initiatives—Gaone Gaone AGP (Village by Village AGP) and Nogore Nogore AGP (Town by Town AGP)—as part of its strategy to strengthen its base ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections.
BJP has won one seat and was leading in two seats as results were announced for the 5 constituencies that went for bye-elections recently. The other two seats have gone to BJP allies United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
The Dhubri Lok Sabha seat, known as a minority stronghold to witness a triangular contest between AIUDF, Congress and AGP, which will go to polls in the third phase on May 7.
