Tensions flared in Manipur Valley as the Meira Paibi, an organization of Meitei women, took to the streets on Monday to stage widespread protests against the Assam Rifles. Accusing the paramilitary force of committing "atrocities" on the Meitei community, hundreds of women carried placards and banners, demonstrating throughout the day in five districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching.

The consignment was coming from Meghalaya and was supposed to go to Manipur where situation is still tense.

Several women on Wednesday staged protests and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Assam Rifles at several locations in Imphal.

Also, in another joint operation, the Radhanagar Battalion of Assam Rifles with Jirighat Police Station launched an operation and seized a substantial quantity of heroin with an estimate value of Rs. 1.1 crore.
