The governments of Meghalaya and Assam on Saturday decided to request the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the Mukroh incident that occurred on November 22, 2022.
Meghalaya and Assam have decided to deploy Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on the inter-state boundary, especially at sensitive locations, following the recent spate of violence between the local communities.
Assam and Meghalaya are on the verge of finalising the border pillars and the official demarcation line between the two states. Both the state governments have put December 31, 2023 as the deadline to complete this exercise of officially defining an agreed boundary between the states.
As the discussions concerning the border between Meghalaya and Assam continues, the Chief Minister’s Level Talk is scheduled to take place on Saturday in Guwahati.
