The main opposition party in Sikkim- Sikkim Democratic Front that ruled the state for decades and continues to be headed by its former chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling has on Monday announced its first list of 26 candidates for the state assembly elections slated for April 19th.

In a major political development, Hamro Sikkim Party president Bhaichung Bhutia merged his party with SDF party and joined the Pawan Chamling-led party during a SDF programme at Rabongla, South Sikkim on Thursday.

Former footballer Bhaichung Bhutia said on Monday said that they have started a relief campaign on Sunday named 'Play for Teesta' to raise some funds so that it can be sent to the people affected by the flood in Sikkim.
