The Assam Congress has decided to challenge Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary's decision to reject a disqualification petition against suspended Congress MLA Sherman Ali. Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah announced on Sunday that the party would move the courts, possibly escalating the matter to the Supreme Court if needed.
The accident occurred when Daimary's convoy was traveling towards Bongaigaon. While the Speaker was not present in the vehicle that crashed, one of his security escorts sustained injuries in the incident.
