Guwahati, April 29: A vehicle from the convoy of Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary was involved in a head-on collision with a truck on the bridge over the Aai river in Bongaigaon district of Assam on this morning.

The accident occurred when Daimary’s convoy was traveling towards Bongaigaon. While the Speaker was not present in the vehicle that crashed, one of his security escorts sustained injuries in the incident.

The injured security personnel was rushed to a private hospital in Bongaigaon for medical treatment.

Traffic was disrupted for some time on the bridge following the collision between the truck, bearing registration number AS 01LC 9156, and the vehicle from the Speaker’s convoy.

An investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is currently underway
