A 25-year-old man from Demseiniong, Mylliem, East Khasi Hills died in a road accident on Monday at Umroi Nongrah, Shillong Bypass NH-44, Ri Bhoi District.
The Meghalaya High Court on Friday observed that the nature of the Jowai Bypass, which it termed was ‘abominable’, indicates some kind of nexus that may not be conducive either to the proper maintenance of the road or in larger public interest.
The State government on Monday informed that more or less 75 per cent of the stretch of the road between Thadlaskein and Mihmyntdu on the Jowai bypass has been repaired and the remainder of the work is going on.
