The chairman of Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC), Chokpot Regional Unit on Monday has written to the state government regarding the the extremely poor conditions of the roads in Chokpot Civil Sub-Division, South Garo Hills.
Despite the South Garo Hills being battered by relentless heavy rainfall on July 2-3, causing multiple landslides that significantly disrupted daily life and blocked critical roadways, the swift and effective response by local authorities ensured that the roads were cleared promptly, minimizing the impact on residents.
A powerful storm accompanied by strong winds and hail caused havoc across seven districts in the state causing extensive damage to 483 houses strewn across 13 development block areas on Sunday. Fortunately there were no loss of lives.
