Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma said on Wednesday that forty to fifty percent of the Class XII graduates have not registered for the Common University Entrance Test – Undergraduate (CUET-UG) held recently in the state.
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has demanded the state government to take action against the manner in which the CUET UG 2024 examination was conducted at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
The State government has taken cognizance of the chaotic conduct of the Common University Entrance Test – UG 2024 examination at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and decided to immediately write to the Centre for exemption from the CUET.
The situation turned chaotic when students were barred from entering the examination hall at the scheduled 3 pm slot for the English paper. Entry was allowed between 5:00 - 5:20 PM.

There are 12 examination centres in Shillong . Candidates can find their examination centers at locations such as KV Happy Valley, KV Nehu Cluster building, Lady Keane College, Raid Laban College, KV EAC, NIT Shillong, Women's College, BSF Senior Secondary School, Army Public School, Assam Rifle Public School, and St. Anthony's College.
The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) on Monday urged the district administration of West Jaintia Hills to ensure integrity of the examination centres for the upcoming Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to be held from May 15 to 18.
