In a tragic incident on Saturday evening, Rikrak S Sangma, aged 26 and son of Meckenson Ch. Marak, resident of Jolgaongre village of South West Garo Hills (SWGH) fell victim to a wild elephant attack.
Occupants in an alto car and a bike heading towards Baghmara narrowly escaped with their lives when a wild herd of elephants charged at them on the border road on Tuesday afternoon.
In a devastating incident early Saturday morning, a wild elephant claimed the lives of three individuals, including two forest guards, in Sonitpur district, Assam. The attack occurred in Dhirai Majuli village, where the elephant had strayed from the nearby Dhekiajuli forest.
Two elephants crossed the international border from Bangladesh to India on Thursday (December 14). The elephants were later observed moving towards the village of Kamar Para by 05:00 hours.
