The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) on Thursday staged a protest demanding the state government to drop its idea of creating a land bank as it is in contradiction with the Meghalaya Transfer of Land (Regulation) Act, 1971.

It maybe noted that the HNYF has imposed a ban on all Assam-registered vehicles in the Umtyngngar area, demanding that the government introduce a policy to restrict the traffic of non-local vehicles carrying tourists.

The number of suspects behind the bomb explosion at Them Mawlong in Shillong city has gone up to seven with the arrest of a key suspect by police from Mairang on Monday.
HNYF president Sadon Blah also accused the police of a knee jerk reaction to the blast victimizing members of his organization and said they would wait for the policec enquiry report.
