The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday charge-sheeted eight more accused in a case relating to the trafficking of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas through the Indo-Bangladesh border as part of a transnational racket.
A charter plane, carrying 276 passengers primarily of Indian nationality, which had been grounded in France for four days due to suspected human trafficking concerns, finally landed in Mumbai in the early hours of Tuesday. The aircraft, identified as an Airbus A340, touched down in Mumbai shortly after 4 am, according to an official statement.
A press release from the NIA revealed that the operation aimed to disrupt illicit human trafficking support systems responsible for the infiltration and settlement of illegal migrants along the Indo-Bangladesh border into India.
With the assistance of the Belonia police station, Partha Sen was arrested and produced in court for transit remand and, on Tuesday, the suspect has been taken to Silchar.
