Das further informed that the same individual was arrested in Belonia on July 12 along with a Bangladeshi woman. A case was registered against him at the Belonia police station under IPC sections 461, 471, 120-B, and 370, along with the Passport Act.

Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi woman from Patuakhali district remains in jail under judicial remand.

Tripura shares an 857-kilometer border with Bangladesh, with 50 kilometers still awaiting barbed wire fencing. Despite significant budget allocations for fencing, border area lighting, and the deployment of a large number of Border Security Forces, infiltration and drug smuggling remain major threats.
