Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani, has informed that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will be coming to Tura next week and will be interacting with the members of ACHIK, who have been on hunger strike for the last 7 days. In light of this, he has urged the organization to call off the hunger strike immediately.
Jagdish Chelani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Meghalaya on Monday, after meeting A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) hunger strike protestors outside the Secretariat, they said that they wanted to know what kind of conversation they wanted to have with the Government and the Administration.
The ACHIK's hunger strike was initiated by a group of activists demanding immediate retrospective implementation of the roster system and making Tura the winter capital of Meghalaya.
According to the organisation, the hunger strike will be led by one of the ACHIK senior members and former Meghalaya civil service and police officer Laben Ch. Marak, announced ACHIK.
