Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat while addressing the annual Vijayadashami celebrations at the Reshimbagh ground in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Tuesday on the Manipur crisis, reportedly said some separatist forces were involved in the violence.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) is deeply offended by the remarks made by Manipur CM Biren Singh in his recent interview, where he blatantly lied about the cause of the sectarian conflict in the state
"What we heard last was that there was a peace agreement between the citizens of the parallel between the Kuki and Meitei; they have signed an agreement where they will uphold the peace in the district; however, this morning this peace was broken by the gunfire from the Meitei site," he added.
The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) and the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) on Sunday denounced the convening of the 4th session of the 12th Legislative Assembly of Manipur on August 29 since the present situation is not at all conducive for the Kuki-Zo MLAs to attend.
The ITLF expressed gratitude to the Mizoram government and the people of the state for their unwavering support of the Kuki-Zo tribals in Manipur in our hour of need.
The ITLF, one of the leading and influential tribal bodies of Manipur, said boycotting of the Assembly session is also in solidarity with the killings and attacks on the tribals.
Union Home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday met Kuki-Zo leaders from a delegation of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) and sorted out what could have led to another flashpoint in the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has alleged that the two women were also gang-raped in a nearby field during the incident, which occurred on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, approximately 35 km from Imphal.
The meeting was attended by the tribal MLAs like Chinlunthang from Singngat, Letzamang Haokip from Henglep and Ngursanglur from Tipaimukh and all tribe recognised leaders, student, Civil society groups, Community and philanthropic organisation leaders .
