After a 23-day blackout, mobile internet and data services were restored on Monday in nine districts of Manipur. The state government, however, urged citizens to use the internet responsibly, warning that any activity that threatens public order could trigger a fresh suspension.
The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet services in nine districts for two more days, with the restriction now set to continue until 5:15 p.m. on December 5.
The notification has been issued by Manipur Home Department Commissioner T. Ranjit Singh. The notification stated that to thwart the design and activities of anti-national and anti-social elements and to maintain peace and communal harmony and to prevent any loss of life or danger to public/private property, it has become necessary to take adequate measures to maintain law and order.
