384 deaths from eight major train accidents in last 5 years

As many as 384 passengers have lost their lives in train accidents in the last five years and hundreds of others have been left injured, many of them maimed for life, due to alleged lapses in management of train operations in automatic signal zones and “inadequate training” of loco pilots and station masters.

Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express Derails: 2 Dead, Dozens Hurt

In another tragic rail accident, at least two passengers died and dozens injured when six coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The accident took place around 2.40 pm near the Jhilahi station. The train was enroute to Dibrugarh.

Kanchanjunga Express collision: NFR’s preliminary probe finds goods train at fault of over-speeding

The preliminary investigation conducted by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has found that the goods train was speeding at 40-45 kmph instead of 10-15 kmph when it collided with the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express on Monday morning near Jalpaiguri in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, that killed at least nine passengers and injured 41 others due to the derailment of the Kanchanjunga Express.

Tripura Govt sends special team to North Bengal to assess train accident site

An emergency meeting was convened at the Tripura State Emergency Operation Centre following the collision of the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express with goods train in North Bengal.

RPF arrest one with US & China made pistols in Tripura

One person was detained by the staff of RPF from Jirania station on Monday evening and during search two 7.65 mm factory made pistols and four magazines were recovered from his possession said Inspector Dipak Datta of the RPF.
