Addressing the media this afternoon, Debbarma thanked student organisation viz., TISF, TSF, NSUI and TYF and Bengali scholars for supporting the cause of Roman script for Kokborok. He also expressed his regret for disturbing normal life by calling the protest.
Minister Sushanta Chaudhary on Monday evening said that the Tripura government has decided to maintain status quo in the existing arrangement for Kokborok subject.

The sudden decision by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) not to allow tribal students appearing for ‘Kokborak’ language to write answers in the Roman script has angered the tribal student body.
The agitators had blocked roads in support of a strike on Monday across the state, which was called by them in protest against the state government’s unwilling attitude towards fulfilling their long-pending demand for the declaration of Roman script as the official script for the tribal language Kokborok.
