The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Thursday asked the Shillong-based Longkmie Gas Agency to provide a minimum of 12 LPG cylinders to consumers annually and to ensure there is no illegal transaction of LPG cylinders.
He said the state government had assured setting up of an entry point at Umling in Ri Bhoi District to check illegal influx entering the state but ironically “the said entry point is now being turned into a Covid testing centre”.
A delegation led by the KSU chief Lambokstarwell Marngar also demanded the Pyniaid Sing Syiem-led Khasi Hills Democratic Front (KHDF) executive committee to ensure that tribal lands are not turned into defence land.
“Well we don’t know what will be the hidden agenda but there may be some designs by the outside forces inimical to the interest of the indigenous peoples of the different states of the NE region,” he added.
Addressing the oath taking ceremony of the new CEC, KSU chief Lambokstarwell Marngar said, “We have decided to declare a war against drugs by working together with the dorbar shnong and schools.”
