In the last 24 hours, South West Khasi Hills has experienced severe weather events, resulting in significant damage and displacement. A landslide occurred on Saturday in Mand and Lummawbah villages under the Mawkyrwat C&RD Block, affecting 18 residents and damaging three houses. Assessments of the full extent of the damage are ongoing.
On the scale of damages, Ambithang near Yangang has reported three individuals missing. Pakshep near Mangan reported one individual dead, two missing. In Geythang, Dzongu three houses were damaged. In Nampathang near Mangan town, several houses have been damaged with connecting roads also blocked.
