Speaking to reporters on Friday, Dhar informed that the state government has deployed additional police personnel for protection in the Lapangap area, where community clashes have been reported in the last few days.
Fresh clashes between the Karbi and Pnar (Jaintia) communities have erupted once again in Lapangap village along the inter-state border in West Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday.
Chairman of the Regional Committee for West Jaintia Hills and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Tuesday said that Lapangap village does not fall under the area of difference with Assam.
Hundreds of locals along with the members of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) in Lapangap, West Jaintia Hills, confronted a group of individuals from the Karbi Anglong area, who allegedly had ulterior motives.
