The Assam government on Thursday proposed to make ‘Manipuri’ as the Associate official Language in three districts of Barak Valley along with Hojai in the central part of the state.
The Assam Cabinet has recognised Manipuri as an associate official language in four districts of the state. The cabinet has given its nod to approve the Assam Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2024 which seeks to recognise Manipuri as an associate official language in Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Hojai districts in the Barak valley.
