Hindu organization Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) has called on the Meghalaya government to hold a meeting with all stakeholders regarding the reopening of the Mawjymbuin Cave for Hindu rituals. The group has set a deadline of December 23 for the meeting and to facilitate a visit to the site. Failure to meet their demands would result in a road blockade at Jorabat (near Guwahati) before Christmas, KSP warned.
Speaking to media persons, Tynsong said, “Let us go back to the history of this Mawjymbuin. That particular place doesn’t belong to the state government and they need to understand one thing, whoever from outside the state, they need to know exactly the land tenure system that we have here in the state of Meghalaya.”
Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma has called for understanding and sensitivity towards local issues in response to the 10-day ultimatum issued by the Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP), a Hindu organization, demanding the reopening of the Mawjymbuin Cave for Hindu rituals.
