The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal for creation of an engineering wing in the police headquarters at Shillong.

The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territory Organisation (HITO) rally turned chaotic as state Police had to resort to using tear gas on HITO members after they attempted to storm the main secretariat building.

In a major development, Meghalaya Police lobbed tear gas shells to disperse protestors, who had gathered in large numbers at Post Office in Shillong.
