For five days, the Nilachal Hills of Kamakhya echoed with the sounds of an elephant's restless journey and the determined efforts of a rescue team. The male elephant, displaced by the rising waters of the Brahmaputra, had wandered from Chandrapur Beat, through Ramsing Chapori, to the dense forests of Kamakhya.
Temple authorities informed that temple doors will open at 9.07 pm on June 25 after 'nribritti' and the temple will open for "darshan" on June 26 morning after a ritualistic bath and daily puja.
The Kamakhya Temple at Nilachal Hills in Assam's Guwahati is one of the oldest and most revered centres of Tantric practices, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya.
