“NEHU has already taken a decision to implement the NEP and till date, I have not received (any communication from) our principals and students. None of the principals have sent me any mail that they don’t want to implement the NEP,” Shukla told reporters.

Informing this on Tuesday, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma told reporters that the meeting, which will be chaired by him, will also be attended by officials from the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and heads of institutions.

The MCTA also expressed its concern over the NEHU administration's adamant approach, particularly displayed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, in pushing forward the implementation of NEP 2020 without the necessary approvals.

The NEHU has agreed to implement the new NEP in a hybrid mode.

This was announced by Prof P S Shukla, the Vice Chancellor of NEHU, in a press conference at the Shillong Press Club here on Wednesday.
