Thousands of tourist taxi drivers from Assam are facing a significant threat to their livelihoods following a demand by the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association (AKMTTA) to ban vehicles from other states from ferrying tourists to Meghalaya's popular destinations.
