Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure law and order is maintained during the election campaigns of political parties for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, to be held on April 19.
On January 24, the State Cabinet had approved the minimum and maximum age limit for recruitment into the four departments – Civil Defence and Home Guards, Excise, Registration, Taxation and Stamps (ERTS), Forest and Environment and Home (Police) – of the state government.
“I don’t know why these people look so desperate. Is it because they know that they are losing or I don’t know for what, why should they act very desperately like this? Their behaviour says like that,” Tynsong told reporters.
Speaking on Friday, Tynsong expressed his dismay at how 'Jaitbynriew' has transcended its original meaning and has become synonymous with various forms of misconduct, including physical altercations and domestic violence.
“I asked for a blueprint to prove your (VPP) love for the jaidbynriew but instead you reply saying that I am not welcome to join VPP because I am too old?” Tynsong said this while addressing at the general election campaign of the party at Ladthadlaboh, Jowai in West Jaintia Hills District.
