Four policemen and over 20 local residents of the Silchar area sustained injuries after an angry mob attacked police during a protest with the dead body of a girl at Silchar in Assam Cachar district on Tuesday night.

Other who spoke on the occasion and took part in the program included general secretary from GSU(CEC) Interim Body, Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GSMC),Vice President of FKJGP – Garo Hills , President of TGCSU, A·chik Mahindra Pik Up Union, etc
The demonstration, which took place on Wednesday, was organized by indigenous student organizations advocating for the adoption of the Roman script for the Kokborak language.
Protestors also said that despite Union Hime Minister Amit Shah's visit to the state, the community was not feeling safe in Manipur as the state administration and the security forces were not able to help or protect them
