Five students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bordumsa in Arunachal Pradesh have been suspended for ragging with the guardians holding the school administration, particularly the Principal, responsible for the incident.
Police sources say that it might be a case of suicide due to stress and other issues but they are investigating all possible angles and awaiting the autopsy report.
The news of ragging of a student in Tura campus of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has sent shockwaves through the region, with cries of justice coming from all corners. The campus administration, on its part, had begun looking into the incident from the very day it took place, however, till now, even after passing of more than 5 days, they have not been able to make any headway.
An official statement said that the fact finding committee will be headed by the Dean of the School of Human & Environmental Sciences, Prof. Lucy Zehol.
Sources informed that the student, an MBA student of the Department of Agri Business Management in NEHU, was dragged out of his room in Arbella Boys’ Hostel at the campus at Chasingre at around 1 – 1.30 AM on October 8, 2023, and taken to the basement.
Prior to his hospitalization, the injured student managed to report the attack to the school authorities and even named five of the seniors who attacked him. The attackers are said to be just a year older than their victim.
