Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar has stated that the state government is engaging with stakeholders on railway projects, aiming to reach a consensus before proceeding.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport, Sniawbhalang Dhar, on Monday said there will no railway project in the Khasi-Jaintia region of the state until and unless everybody is taken on board.
The Centre is likely to scrap the two railway projects - 22-km Tetelia-Byrnihat tracks and the 108-km Byrnihat-Shillong line after they have faced roadblocks due to strong opposition from different quarters apprehending influx.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said the State government is still looking at other regions of the State for implementation of the railway project.
