Cabinet minister and government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh on Friday said the All Party Committee on Railways will soon invite all stakeholders including members of civil society organizations for their views on the issue.
In an official press release, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) informed that there are altogether 279 nos. of operational FOBs of various widths and lengths located at five divisions of Kitahar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia.
He said cement factories are producing almost 17 million tonnes which means 3300 tons per day. This means almost 50 lakh tons (of cement) are being carried from Jaintia Hills to the rest of the country. Therefore, it is not possible to maintain the road and traffic in the future.
