Maligaon, 27: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has constructed ten new Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at various locations within its zone to strengthen passenger safety and ensure convenience. Another 59 nos of FOBs will be constructed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in the coming days.
In an official press release, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) informed that there are altogether 279 nos. of operational FOBs of various widths and lengths located at five divisions of Kitahar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia.
In the last financial year, i.e., 2023-24, ten new FOBs were constructed at the Rangiya and Katihar divisions of the zone. Under the Rangiya division, Azara, Patiladaha, Sorbhog, Singra, Boko, Bamunigaon, Changsari, Chaygaon & Baihata stations came up with one FOB each. At Katihar division, Harishchandrapur railway station came up with one new FOB.
The release also stated that Railways are developing advanced amenities at railway stations like lifts & escalators, FOBs, up-class waiting lounges, etc., to enhance passengers’ safety, convenience and comfort.
