The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of Northeast India over the coming days as conditions become favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of South Garo Hills S. Awasthi, chaired a l high-level meeting on Tuesday to assess the preparedness for the upcoming Southwest Monsoon 2024. The meeting, held at the District Resource Centre in Baghmara, focused on implementing measures to minimize and prevent potential disasters in the district.
