The SSA teachers under the banner of the All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers’ Association (AMSSASTA) and the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) had served an ultimatum to the state government to consider enhancing salary of SSA teachers in Meghalaya by September 30, failing which they would be compelled to launch an indefinite state-wide protest
The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has decided to soon take a call on the state government's decision to put on proposal for enhancing the salary of over 12,541 SSA teachers across the state.
Addressing media persons, MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said the association had submitted a representation to the chairperson of the State Education Commission on October 1, 2023 for creation of posts and shifting of 12541 existing SSA teachers from State Implementing Society to State Education department on regular basis as per provision of RTE/SSA norms.
The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGIISSASTA) has served a seven-day ultimatum to the State government demanding immediate release of their three months pending salary.
Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya, Education Department, Himalaya Shangpliang on Tuesday said the MDA-2 government has taken various initiatives for the SSA teachers, and it will soon release Rs. 52 crores in capping salary for SSA teachers.
He also expressed concern over the failure of the government to clear the salary on quarterly basis despite assurances made by the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong, last year.
