In what can be seen as a step towards securing the future of SSA teachers, Meghalaya Government on Wednesday increased the upper age limit to 45 years to enable the SSA teachers to apply for government teachers’ post
In a move to enhance accountability and administrative oversight, the Government of Meghalaya has mandated that all Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers submit their daily attendance through the Teacher Information Management System (TIMS) app.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Wednesday met the two groups of SSA teachers under the banner of Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) and the All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers’ Association (AMSSASTA) for talks and sought for more time to ensure state government comes up with a formula to address their issues
In a memorandum to Dhankhar, AMSSASTA president, Peter Thyrniang, said, “(We) urge your honour kindly to take prompt intervention regarding the enhancement of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ salary.”
Speaking to media persons, Rakkam said that decision to enhance the salary of over 13000 SSA teachers may not be practically possible immediately in view of the financial constraint faced by the government.
The state government is yet to invite the All Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan School Teachers’ Association (AMSSASTA) for discussion despite staging an indefinite sit-in-demonstration for the past eight days.
