Studies have revealed that narrow roads, on-street parking and increasing number of private vehicles are key factors contributing to the traffic congestion in Shillong city.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday said that the government has identified close to 25 acres of land to implement various infrastructure projects aimed to give an overall facelift to Shillong city, vis-Ã -vis beautify and decongest.
The Minister also informed that the newly launched Innova vehicles initiated by the government are exclusively meant for ferrying tourists and will help to bring down the number of cars coming from Assam.
