The name of Meghalaya has once again been unfairly tarnished by baseless claims from an outsider who likely has never even set foot in the state — alleging that a village here in Meghalaya still practices ‘human sacrifice’ and ‘ritualistic cannibalism’.
The TMP, which has been demanding 'Greater Tipraland', or a separate state for the tribals under Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution, held their demonstration on NH-8, disrupting vehicular movement on the vital road.
Debbarma, a senior leader of the TIPRA Motha Party also expressed apprehensions about the budget allocation for tribals, stating that if 39 percent of the budget is allocated to them, it would imply a reduction in funds for UR, SC, and OBC populations.
