A day after Section 144 CrPC was withdrawn from in and around Tura town, the West Garo Hills district administration has decided to also withdraw the night curfew that has been in place for the past four nights, since Monday.
Following the violence, police have managed to bring the situation under control and arrested atleast 19 people, identified through video recordings and eye witness accounts, in connection with instigating the violence.
Since the violence started, police have arrested 18 people based on video footage and eye witness accounts for inciting the unruly mob. With Richard’s arrest, the tally has gone up to 19.
The District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani, has issued an order informing that all educational institutes in Tura Municipal Area (Tura Town) will remain closed on Tuesday (July 25).
