Tura, Sept 5: The Department of Education, West Garo Hills on Thursday celebrated the 63rd Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm at the district auditorium in Tura.
The celebration began with a tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose legacy as an educator and philosopher was honored, followed by a welcome song by students from Tura Government Higher Secondary School.
Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) CP Marak who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest highlighted the role of teachers in instilling values, manners and discipline in the students and developing their overall personality.
Marak further said that teachers do face several challenges like students’ distractions, busy parents, and mental health issues due to the pressure of exam-oriented education.
During the occasion awards were presented to outstanding teachers from the district for their contributions towards the education sector. The awardees shared their experiences and joy, inspiring others in the teaching profession.
The event concluded with Samuel Ch. Marak, Sub-Divisional School Education Officer, Tura, offering words of gratitude and singing of the teacher’s anthem.
