Shillong, Sep 5: The District School Education Officer, West Jaintia Hills, celebrated Teachers Day at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, Jowai, where Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and MLA Wailadmiki Shylla as the Guest of Honour. Deputy Commissioner B.S. Sohliya, IAS, and Superintendent of Police C. Syrti, MPS, were also present.
Deputy CM Sniawbhalang Dhar lauded the teachers for their selfless contribution in moulding and shaping the students for all-round development. He appreciated the dedication of the teachers and acknowledged that, despite lower salaries, teachers continue to serve and nurture their students. He encouraged the students to learn, to be sincere with themselves, and to aim high.
He congratulated the district teacher awardees for their dedicated service and urged them to continue serving society. He also presented momentous and certificates to the awardees.
In the secondary level, the district award was conferred to Wanhok Lamar, Vice Principal, QC Springside High School; Upper Primary Level to Ohiwot Laloo, Assistant Teacher, Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School; Jowai Primary Level to Hilarious Manner, Head Teacher, Umladkhur Government LP School, Khonglah. Best Scout Master was awarded to Jonas K. Pala, Tome Memorial Scout Troop/Sec. School, Mooralong, Jowai, and best guide captain to Miss Dolly Lamare, Little Angels Guide Company/Sec. School, Moosalyngkat, Jowai.
Song, dance, and recitations were performed by the students to express their gratitude and appreciation for the dedication and hard work of their teachers.
